The inaugural Lagaip District Cultural Tumbuna Show in Enga Province was held at Laiagam Primary School, marking a historic milestone for the district. The event drew a packed crowd and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region, featuring 15 Singsing groups, 16 cultural activities, and a special performance from a Singsing group from Kandep, adding vibrant colors and energy to the occasion.
Remarkably, the event was funded entirely through community-driven support. The Show Committee, led by Tarakali Tangui, collected registration fees and received donations, including K200 from the Committee itself and K2000 from a prominent local businessman who contributed from China. Additionally, the Minister for Culture and Tourism and the CEO of the Tourism Promotion Authority pledged K25,000 to support the show.
Security for the event was effectively managed by the Laiagam Town Two Community Rangers, Lyumbain Clan members, and further support from Tia Lyain and Pyain Walin youth groups, ensuring a safe environment throughout the day. Community leaders expressed high praise for the Show Committee’s dedication and organization, highlighting the success of the event, which ran smoothly and concluded without any issues. This historic event celebrated and unified the Lagaip community, setting a promising foundation for future cultural showcases in the district.
